White Bread
….Makes 2 loaves
Ingredients
2 cups Warm Water
1/4 cup Sugar
1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
6 cups Artisan Bread Flour (NOT AP FLOUR)
Directions
In a very large bowl, combine water, sugar and yeast. Whisk and set aside for 5min.
Add salt and oil and whisk to combine. Add flour 1 cup at a time, saving 1/2 a cup for dusting. Using the handle of a WOODEN SPOON (or something similar) mix dough after each cup. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface using the remaining 1/2 cup and knead until smooth, about 5min.
Place dough into a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic and a tea towel. Place in a warm area and let it rise for 1 hour. It should double in size.
Punch dough down and knead for 3min. Divide dough in half (use a scale if you have) and shape into 2 loaves. Place loaves into greased 9x5 inch loaf pans. Cover and let rise for 30min.
Bake at 350F for 30min or until loaves are golden brown. Remove from pans and let cool before slicing.
